Can someone vote on my behalf? (Proxy Voting)
If you cannot vote on any of the Advance Polling Days (February 29, 2020 and March 3, 2020) or on Ordinary Polling Day (March 7, 2020) due to illness, physical disability or absence from the Regional Municipality you can apply to vote by proxy. Voting by proxy means a friend or family member can vote on your behalf (proxy voter), at your polling station.

- Submit the Application to the Returning Officer in person at 76 Morison Drive between 9:00 am February 13, 2020 and 4:30 p.m. February 28, 2020. Only you or your proxy voter can submit the application.
- Receive a Proxy Paper (Form 22) from the Returning Officer
- Have your proxy voter attend your polling station on Ordinary Poll Day (March 7, 2020) to vote for you.
Qualifications for a Proxy Voter
If you and your proxy voter are unrelated, you must each be on the list of electors for the Regional Municipality and your proxy voter must not have been appointed for any other unrelated elector.
If you are related to the proxy voter such as child, grandchild, brother, sister, parent, grandparent, husband, or wife, you must each be on the list of electors for the Regional Municipality.
If you are a resident in a home for special care, you can appoint a proxy voter who is related as a child, grandchild, brother, sister, parent, grandparent husband or wife, who is of voting age but they do not need to be on any list of electors.
A proxy voter may vote for any number of related electors but only one unrelated elector.
Remember: Proxy votes can only be used on March 7, 2020
